Law Enforcement Request Policy

This Law Enforcement Request Policy describes the process by which recognized United States law enforcement agencies may submit lawful requests for information, records, preservation, or trace assistance relating to services provided by Short Code Voice, Inc. ("Short Code Voice").

1. Scope of Services

Short Code Voice provides one-way voice communications services only. Short Code Voice™ does not provide outbound calling services, SMS/MMS messaging services, or general telecommunications carrier services beyond its specific supported offerings.

2. Submission of Requests

All law enforcement requests must be submitted through our Legal Form.

Requests must originate from a recognized United States law enforcement agency and be submitted from an official government or law enforcement email domain.

3. Required Legal Process

Short Code Voice™ accepts and responds to legal process as required by applicable law, including:

  • Subpoenas;
  • Emergency / exigent circumstance requests from recognized law enforcement agencies;
  • Other legal process only where required by applicable law.

Short Code Voice reserves the right to reject, object to, or require modification of any request that is incomplete, invalid, overbroad, or otherwise legally insufficient.

4. Available Records

Subject to availability, legal process, and applicable law, Short Code Voice™ may provide:

  • Customer / brand account name and contact information;
  • Billing method information;
  • IP/login records, if available;
  • Call detail records / routing logs, if available;
  • Historical trace information, where available and legally permitted.

5. Records Not Generally Available

Short Code Voice™ generally does not possess or maintain the following records except where specifically arranged in advance or otherwise required by law:

  • Outbound call records;
  • SMS or MMS message records;
  • Message content;
  • Call recordings;
  • Real-time interception data.

6. Trace Requests

Short Code Voice™ may support historical and/or real-time trace requests relating only to calls received to Short Code Voice™ numbers, subject to:

  • Applicable law;
  • Technical feasibility and availability;
  • Adequate advance notice where required;
  • Operational limitations.

Trace capability is not guaranteed in all circumstances.

7. Preservation Requests

Upon valid request and where data is available, Short Code Voice™ may preserve relevant records in accordance with applicable law and operational capabilities.

8. Data Retention

Retention of account records, logs, traces, and related information is limited to periods required or permitted under applicable federal and state law, operational necessity, and the Short Code Voice™ internal retention practices.

9. Cost Reimbursement

Short Code Voice™ reserves the right to seek reimbursement for costs incurred in responding to law enforcement requests, except where prohibited or limited by applicable law. Applicable fees, if any, will be communicated in the Short Code Voice™ response.

10. Jurisdictional Limitation

Short Code Voice™ accepts requests only from United States law enforcement authorities and only in connection with matters governed by United States law.

11. Reservation of Rights

Nothing in this Policy obligates Short Code Voice™ to disclose information beyond what is required by applicable law. Short Code Voice™ reserves all rights to object to, narrow, or decline requests as permitted by law.
