  • What is a short code?

    A short code is a 5- or 6-digit phone number designed for high-volume messaging between brands and their customers. These numbers are commonly used to deliver alerts, updates, authentication codes, promotions, surveys, and other time-sensitive communications at scale.

    Because short codes are easy to recognize and remember, they typically achieve strong delivery and engagement rates. They are also widely trusted by consumers due to strict regulatory requirements, carrier oversight, and industry standards that help ensure responsible messaging practices.

    Now, short codes are evolving beyond messaging. With Short Code Voice™, brands can extend these same trusted, recognizable numbers into voice—enabling customers to call or be connected directly through the short code. This creates a more seamless and complete communication experience, bridging the gap between messaging and live voice interaction on a single, familiar number.

  • What is a Short Code Voice™ number?

    A Short Code Voice™ number is a five- or six-digit phone number that has been enabled with voice services. Wireless subscribers, on supported networks, can call these numbers. The calls are redirected to the associated brand or company’s contact center.

  • Do Short Code Voice™ services impact my messaging services?

    No. When you establish a Short Code Voice™ number there is no impact to your existing messaging services. There are no changes or coordination required with your existing messaging provider. These are separate unrelated services which function independently.

  • Can I call my customers from my Short Code Voice™ number?

    No. The Short Code Voice™ service is a one way only voice service (inbound voice from a wireless subscriber to your Short Code Voice™ number). You cannot make outbound calls originating from your Short Code Voice™ number to your customers. This is strictly prohibited.

  • I have an SMS short code, can my competitor enable voice on it?

    No. Establishing a Short Code Voice™ number involves verification that the short code is currently leased and confirmation of the associated brand.

  • Why do I get a weird signal and message when I call my current SMS short code?

    Until your short code is established as a Short Code Voice™ number it will not work for voice. The supported carriers are also limited, but are expanding every day.

  • How long does it take to get my current short code enabled for voice?

    Once you have signed an agreement, we will activate your Short Code Voice™ number as soon as we are onboarding your specific use case. Our implementation team will assist you with this process and the timing.

  • How long does it take to get a short code enabled for voice if I do not currently have a short code?

    You will need to acquire your short code first before you can establish a Short Code Voice™ number. Our implementation team will assist you with the entire process.

  • Will my Short Code Voice™ number receive any spam calls?

    The Short Code Voice™ service allows consumer subscribers to call Short Code Voice™ numbers. We have restrictions on the supported call paths which result in an unlikelyhood that spam calls unlike traditional telephone numbers.

  • How much does it cost to make a voice call to a short code?

    The Short Code Voice™ service does not charge end user subscribers to use the service. Most wireless carrier plans do not charge per minute fees for voice calls. Subscribers can check with their wireless carrier plan as standard calling rates may apply.

  • How much does it cost for my company to enable voice on our short code?

    Short Code Voice™ has a number of plans for our customers, your brand. The fees will vary depending on the number of short codes and the voice usage. After you contact our us we will assist you with these details.
